How our idea hatched?
The Turkey side of the business was started by Mick Woods who, generations ago, began farming with just a few turkeys. Each year more birds were added to the farm to meet the demand and now, 40+ years later, we supply to butchers and families all over Lancashire. Our name has become synonymous with high quality turkeys.

Our Breads
Typically, we bread Bronze and White turkeys.
The Bronze: is probably the most popular variety of turkey and most well known. It originated from crosses between the domestic turkeys brought by European colonists to the Americas and the Eastern wild turkeys. The metallic sheen, which gives the breed its name, is part of its inheritance from its wild ancestors.
The White: The most commonly raised commercial turkey today is the Broad-Breasted White variety, which has all-white plumage and descends from the White Holland. It is a nice plump bird with plenty of meat.
At Wood's Farm Shop, we maintain the highest quality. This begins with the food. Our suppliers of food are Massey Feeds at Walton-Le-Dale, who provide one of the highest standards of bird food, giving them the correct balance of vitamins and minerals to produce a strong and healthy flock.

Their Habitat
All of our turkeys are kept in spacious cabins and sheds. This allows them to keep warm and gives them protection from the winter elements.
During a typicle day, the birds can come and go as they please, grazing and feeding as they wish. This lifestyle makes for a content bird that will eat and keep active on a daily basis. The bottom line is that a healthy bird makes for a tasty bird!
